Professor Fei-Fei Li is the inaugural Sequoia Professor in the Computer Science Department at Stanford University, and the Denning Co-Director of Stanford’s Human-Centered AI Institute. Her current research interests include cognitively inspired AI, machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, robotic learning and AI+healthcare especially ambient intelligent systems for healthcare delivery. In the past she has also worked on cognitive and computational neuroscience.
Dr. Li is the inventor of ImageNet and the ImageNet Challenge, a critical large-scale dataset and benchmarking effort that has made a key contribution to the AI RevolutionI. In addition to her technical contributions, she is a national leading voice for AI governance and policy, as well as for advocating diversity in STEM and AI. She is co-founder and chairperson of the national non-profit AI4ALL aimed at increasing inclusion and diversity in AI education.
Dr. Li is an elected member of the National Academy of Engineering, National Academy of Medicine, and American Academy of Arts and Science. She is one of the Time AI100 people in 2023.
AI2050 Project
In her AI2050 project, Li will develop the first prototype of robots that can perform 1000 everyday household activities that real humans do in simulation and in the real world. The robots are empowered by large AI foundation models that allow them to better perceive, understand, reason, and act. Building upon her lab’s tradition of developing AIs that address human needs, they are strengthening their research with inputs from other research fields. She hopes to develop human-centered AI solutions that address some of humanity’s greatest challenges such as healthcare and family care.
